I haven’t had a chance to talk about this anywhere because I saw the movie while I was in San Francisco for DrupalCon. So first let me say I tell everyone with a good sense of humor to read Wanted, so my feeling about what Mark Millar creates is pretty much he writes it I read it. I really liked Kick-Ass the comic, the story was good, bu I think the total package was the most important thing going for this comic. The art from John Romita Jr. & Millar’s writing together are what sold me, the jarring and over the top ideas wouldn’t have been nearly as easy to swallow and even look forward too without the best art of Romita’s career. All that being said the movie really worked for me, it doesn’t actually follow the comic’s storyline, but the changes to the story make the movie more concise and has a beginning, middle & end. The highlight of the movie is Hit Girl, that character stole the comic, and we are treated to so much fun whenever Chloe Moretz is on screen. She nails every note from the over-the-top violence to the touching moments. The rest of the casting was good, even Nick Cage as Big Daddy, the change of this characters origin slightly disappointed me, but it likely made a better movie storyline.

Overall I would say, I loved the comic & feel the similarly about the movie. Check out both the comic & the movie neither will disappoint if you Millar’s style.
